Zakary Thomas Svorec

Zakary Thomas Svorec, 23, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Sunday, December 28, 2014 at home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 2, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph, with Chaplain Michael Teed officiating.  Cremation will follow the services.  Friends may visit from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M. Zak was born February 19, 1991 in Berrien Center to Raymond Jr. & Laura (Ellis) Svorec.  He graduated from Stewart County High School in Dover, Tennessee and attended Lake Michigan College where he earned two welding certifications.  He was employed as a Fabricator at Innovative Iron in Wyoming, Michigan.  Zak played football for Eau Claire Junior High and enjoyed college & pro football, especially the Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions.  He also enjoyed Country Music and loved his puppy dogs. Zak is survived by his parents-Laura (Bill Oehler) Ellis-Oehler of Sodus & Raymond Svorec, Jr. of Coloma; siblings-Kylie Svorec of Stevensville, Christopher Oehler, Sr. of Sodus, Shannon (Scott) Zuhl of Benton Harbor, Raymond Gary of South Carolina; grandmothers-Shirley Mason of Coloma & Lavada Ellis of Benton Harbor; special aunt Jeana Brewer of Niles, special nephew Christopher Oehler, Jr.; a large extended family; and his best friends Jonathon & Crystal Brown of Sodus.  He was preceded in death by his grandfathers-Tommie Ellis & Raymond Svorec, Sr.
