Donald's Obituary

Donald L. Terrill, age 74, passed away on Sunday January 4, 2015 due to injuries he sustained in an accident in June. You may visit the family on Friday evening January 9th from 5pm to 8pm at Stark & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Elks Rites conducted at 7:30 P.M.  A celebration service will be held on Saturday January 10th at 11:00 am at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, 914 Lane Drive, St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of Don’s favorite charities, The Salvation Army or to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  Those wishing to sign Don’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Don was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda Terrill, parents Roberta “Bobbi” and Horace “Chief” Terrill, also a brother Ron Marks.  Don leaves behind his very special friend and companion, Jeri Spitzer who remained at his bedside from the time of the accident until his untimely death.  Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Donald (Beverly) Terrill of Kalamazoo, Jeff (Rhonda) Terrill of Hartford, step sons Scott (Jennifer) Smith and Craig (Andrea) Smith of Wilmington, NC, 4 sisters – Susie (Roy) Tarbutton, Phyllis McFadden, Judy (Tim) Ashley and Maggie Walters, 3 brothers – Gary (Chris) Walters, Bob (Denise) Walters and Burt Walters. Don is also survived by his Mother-in-law Mildred Taft of Wilmington, NC and his grandchildren, Macaela Smith of South Bend, IN, Brayden, Cohen and Aislynn Smith of Wilmington, NC. ; also his extended family-The Davis, Hart and Marshall families.    Don enjoyed the outdoors, walking and biking daily.  He loved to eat out, going to see movies and especially enjoyed listening to live music at The Livery in Benton Harbor.  He was a member of the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Elks, the Herb Society, Box Factory of Arts, South Shore Racquet club, Shoreline Garden Club and the Sarett Nature Center.  Don was very generous with his friends and community, always ready to lend a hand when needed.  He always wanted to have peace.  He will be truly missed.
