Frances Christine Schroeder

Frances Schroeder, 97, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at her home. Frances was born October 2, 1917 to John & Emma Miller in Coloma. She attended Bundy Grade School and Coloma High School where she graduated with honors at the age of fifteen. She then attended Twin City Business College. After school she went to work at New Products Corp. where she meet her husband Rudolph “Slim” whom she married on January 30, 1937 in South Bend, IN. She then worked at Kay Wood Corp. until her son Jim was born in 1951.  She was a stay at home mom for a few years then went to work as a Secretary at Pier School, Coloma Elementary and Coloma Migrant Program. She retired after 25 years. She was a member in the Coloma Lioness, North Shore Thursday Club, Widow Support Group, Friendship Club and Thursday Fun Club. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Her main interests were her church, crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, and fishing with her husband Slim at Armstrong Lake in Ely, Minn. She is survived by her son Jim, sister Alice Deetjen, sister-in-law Wahnita Miller and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Emma Miller, her husband Slim Schroeder and her brother Charles Miller. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Noah Headrick officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
