Maryetta May Wilken

Maryetta “Sue” M. Wilken, 86, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Park Place Assisted Living in Kalamazoo. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 29, 2014 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Noah Headrick officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma.  Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. Sue was born November 15, 1928 in Miami, FL to Hubert & Beulah (Pierce) Hope. She wed Wilbur C. Wilken Sr. September 8, 1950 in Mishawaka, IN. She worked at Whirlpool in Accounting for 30 plus years before retiring. Sue was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. Sue was secretary and treasurer for the Ladies Guild at Grace Lutheran Church for many years. She loved crafting with her daughter-in-law, JoAnn, and her granddaughters, Jill, Julie and Ashley. She enjoyed fishing at Lake Ann with her family. Most of all Sue cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren attending their various activities and sporting events. Sue is survived by her children David (Jo Ann) Wilken of Wauwatosa, WI and Dawn (Larry) Pallas of Portage, MI; grandchildren Justin Pallas, Andrew Wilken, Mindy O’Brien, Jill Wilken, Julie Wilken and Ashley Wilken; great-granddaughter Kayla Pallas and brother Howard Hope of St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Wilbur on March 17, 2012, brother Hurbert “Sonny” Hope, and granddaughter Angel Pallas.
