Dorothy V. Seymour

Dorothy V. Seymour, 93, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. Dorothy was born February 10, 1921 in Reed City, MI to Nelson & Nina (Hunter) Smith. She was a graduate of Union High School in Grand Rapids, MI. On March 16, 1940 she wed Norman Seymour in Grand Rapids, MI. Dorothy worked at Sanitary Cleaners for 11 years as an office manager. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Benton Harbor. Dorothy enjoyed going to the Four Winds Casino and playing the sizzling seven’s machine, traveling, singing songs around the campfire and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She is survived by her sons Richard Seymour of Watervliet, Leonard Seymour of Watervliet, Norman (Joyce) Seymour of Boise, ID; grandchildren Elizabeth, Rebecca (Smitti), Richard Jr., David, Paula, Leonard “Duke” (Tina), Steven (Carolina), Michael (Steffi), and Shannon; great- grandchildren  James, Tim, Michale, Andrew, Cassandra, Megan, Cory, Caleb, Tyler, Kelsee, Kayden, Grace and Andrea and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Norman in January 2000, daughter-in-law Kathleen Seymour, brothers Walter Smith, Delbert Smith, Samuel Smith; sisters Elsie Plumb, Florence Moore, Iva Hoogerhyde and Julia Lindsey. A private family burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church or the Charity of your choice.
