Henry's Obituary

Henry Zwar, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 3, 2014 at First Church of God, 2627 Niles Rd. St. Joseph with Rev. Bob Confer officiating. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. Those wishing to sign Henry’s guestbook may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com Henry was born August 30, 1923 in South Haven, MI to William & Pauline (Hemmerling) Zwar. On March 1, 1943 he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country in World War II. He was honorably discharged on January 24, 1946. On June 11, 1966 he wed Arbeautus Hartwig Brooks at the Baroda Church of God. Henry worked as a mold maker at Advanced Products for 36 years before retiring. He enjoyed working outdoors in his flower garden and fixing things. He was known for being the “Track Man” going around passing out pamphlets spreading the word of God. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Arbeautus, sons Donald (Beverly) Zwar of Watervliet, Matt (Kim) Brooks of Watervliet; grandchildren Tracy (Tony) and Michael (Rebecca); 3 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; sister Helen Reinhart; sister-in-law Vera Zwar and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Dorothy (Henry) Kraklau, Reinhold (Betty) Zwar, Fredrick Zwar and brother-in-law Fred Reinhart.
