Philip James Arent

Philip J. Arent, 84, of Niles, formerly of St. Joseph, MI, passed away November 23, 2014. A devoted family man who spent much of his 84 years providing for his family.  Phil was a truly honest man, a Christian, and a genuinely nice man.  Phil was very proud of his family and their many accomplishments.  Before and following his service in the US Navy Phil spent 45 years working for Whirlpool Corporation of St. Joseph, Michigan.  During his early years growing up in Bainbridge Township, Phil worked on his family’s Centennial farm. Phil is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanette.  Children Gordon (Deborah), Dawn (Jeffrey), Jeffrey (Michelle), Christopher (Jacqueline), and Glenn (Rachel).  Grandchildren, Matthew (Ami), Allissa (George), Alexander, Caitlin, Joshua, Nicole, Maxton, and Mackenzie.  Great Grandchildren, Lacee, Paula, Matthew, Brianna, and Juliette. and his sister Althea (Dwight) Peters. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 11:30 A.M. at  Starks and Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph officiated by Chaplain Scott Labbe of Hospice. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph.
