Richard Patrick Weed

Richard Patrick Weed, 62, of St. Joseph, passed away, Monday, November 18, 2014 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at First Assembly of God, 3084 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Doug Hoyh officiating. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the church. Those wishing to share a memory of Richard online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Richard was born March 12, 1952 in St. Joseph to Edgar Grant and Berniece Margaret (Connell) Weed. Richard was a Truck Driver by trade and enjoyed traveling throughout  the country on his Harley with his friends. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, antiquing, recycling, and was an avid conservationist. He was extremely generous and believed everyone and everything had a purpose.  Richard was a compassionate, kind and gentle soul who will be missed beyond words.  Richard is survived by eight siblings, Thomas (Lou) Weed, Frances (John) Chilton, Judy (Tom) Englesby, Edward (Jan) Weed, Dorothy (Richard) Oberheu, Margaret Weed, Stephen (Debra) Weed, Patricia Weed, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and adopted son Mikey. He also had many treasured friends, especially the Jim and Sue Dunning family. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Kevin Weed, sister Kathleen “Kathy” Weed, a special aunt Margaret Weed, nephew Rudy Weed and brother-in-law Peter Schreyer.
