Edward's Obituary

Edward Allen Adler, 89, of St. Joseph, MI, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014, at the Whitcomb Towers. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date with inurnment taking place at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Edward was born February 7, 1925, in St. Joseph to Charles and Christine (Gessow) Adler.  He served in the United States Army during WWII.  On August 23, 1947, he married Edna Tripp in Benton Harbor, MI.  Edward retired from Whirlpool after 38 years as a Quality Control Manager.  He was a long time member at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in St. Joseph.   He loved being with his children and grandchildren.  Edward enjoyed reminiscing about growing up as a Sand Rabbit on the beach in St. Joseph. He coached in the St. Joseph Little League Association.  Edward was an avid White Sox and Detroit Lions fan.  He and his wife enjoyed traveling, and they wintered in Key Largo, FL for 25 years. In his later years, he could be seen driving his scooter all over St. Joseph. Edward is survived by his four sons: Steve Adler of St. Joseph, Garry Adler of Boynton Beach, FL, Phillip (Debra) Adler of Vero Beach, FL, and David (Lisa) Adler of Grand Rapids, MI; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, wife Edna, daughter-in-law Deborah Adler, two brothers  Carl Adler and Robert Adler and two sisters Carol Adler and Marilyn McKinnley.
