Connie Lorraine Duschek

Connie Duschek, 78, of Berrien Springs passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014 at her home.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with Chaplain Scott Labbe officiating.  Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel.  Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home or Pilgrim Congregational Church.  Those wishing to sign Connie’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Connie was born March 8, 1936 in Watervliet, MI to Albert “Bud” & Florence (Young ) Leight.  She graduated from Watervliet High School in 1954.  On January 9, 1957 she married Walter “Wally” Duschek in Ohio.  Connie was a homemaker who spent over 30 years babysitting because of her love for children. She was strong-willed and a wonderful cook and baker who looked forward to the Sunday family dinners every week. Her macaroni & cheese and pies were always in demand.  Connie was involved with First Congregational Church in Benton Harbor and later at Pilgrim Congregational Church-St. Joseph, where she taught Sunday School and was active with the Ladies Fellowship and the Board of Christian Education.  Connie also volunteered with the sheep and goat barns at the Berrien County Youth Fair.  Connie is survived by her husband Walter “Wally” Duschek; son Mark (Mary) Duschek of Baroda; daughter Paula (Dean) Marschke of Berrien Springs; five grandchildren Rachael & Ryan Marschke, Brandi, Cody & Aaron Duschek; her sister Fran Mills of Washington State; and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.  She was preceded in death by her father Albert “Bud” Leight; her mother & step-father Florence Leight Boyer & Theodore Boyer, and two sisters Bette DiMiceli and Jean Beckwith.
