Robert H. Imler

Robert H. Imler, Sr., 91, of Berrien Springs, MI, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association. Those wishing to share a memory of Robert online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Robert was born July 25, 1923, in Royalton Township, MI, to Simon & Elizabeth (Muff) Imler. Robert served his country in the United States Army, serving three tours of duty in 1946, 1951 and 1955 in Hokkaido, Japan, as a First Class Sergeant. On June 18, 1954, he married Yasu Yonei in Sapporo, Japan. He spent his entire lifetime as a farmer and also retired from Clark Equipment as a machinist. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert is survived by his children Virginia (Dale) Wilson of Michigan City, IN., Robert (Chandra) Imler Jr. of Berrien Springs, Charles (Joan) Imler of St. Joseph, Diane (Michael) Mannino of Benton Harbor, and Joetta (Mitchell) Coffman of Ohio; seven grandchildren Rachel, Adam, Grant, Grace, Duane, Josh and Autumn; two great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Yasu, son Ricky, two brothers and three sisters.
