Frank Edward Callender

Frank E. Callender, 75, of St. Joseph, MI passed away after losing his battle with cancer, on Thurs., Oct. 2, 2014 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville. Arrangements have been entrusted with Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph.   Frank was born on August 8, 1939 in St. Joseph to Harry and Eleanor (Schuhknecht) Callender. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1957. Frank loved playing sports and earned seven athletic letters in high school. Frank was employed by local financial institutions for 37 years as a Loan Officer. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years, being stationed in Japan.   Frank is survived by sons Jeffery (Lelia Lynch) Callender of Toronto, ON CA and Gary (Jean) Callender of St. Joseph, daughter Pamela (Mark) Weir of St. Joseph, and by his grandchildren Lee, Kyle and Jessica Callender, Ashley and Adam Weir, and great granddaughter Darcy. He is also survived by his sisters Beverly Gordon, Jackie, Dawn (Ernie) Koenig, Patsy Dillard, Gayle (Larry) Adler, aunts Ruthie Stanton and Betty (David) Karsten, and dear friend Marcia Kasischke. Frank was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother Muriel (Beamon) Callender and his brother Mark. He will be greatly and sadly missed by family and friends.   Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 until 4:00 PM on Sunday Oct. 5 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday Oct. 6, 9:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph.
