William's Obituary
William Tisdale (Bill) Kendall, age 89, formerly of Stevensville, MI passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter in Tullahoma, TN on 8/19/14.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Scottdale United Methodist Church, 4271 Scottdale Rd, St. Joseph with Pastor Terrill Schneider officiating. Military Rites provided by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Private family burial will take place at Hickory Bluff Cemetery at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Born in Detroit, MI on 10/14/24, Bill was raised by his loving parents, Helen and Frank Romzek. He entered the US Navy upon completion of high school in 1943. During WWII he served in the Submarine Force where he was qualified in submarines aboard the USS Bluefish (SS 222) and completed his service in 1946 aboard the submarine support ship, USS Orion (AS-18).
On June 21, 1947 he married Wilma (Brooks) Kendall and together they raised five children. They were married for 42 years until her passing in 1989.
During his career, Bill attended the University of Detroit for three years, served as a St Clair Shores, MI police officer and became involved in the auto sales industry which included many years as the General Manager of Gene Merollis Chevrolet in Garden City, MI.
Survivors include his daughter, Kate (David) Lapczynski of Tullahoma, TN; daughter, Susie Kendall of Stevensville, MI; his son William B. (Anna) Kendall of Fort Worth, TX; son Michael (Yvonne) Kendall of South Lyon, MI.; daughter- in- law Barbara Kendall of Southfield, MI ; 10 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Richard E. Kendall, his youngest son Patrick Kendall, his granddaughter Kathy Anne Lapczynski, and son-in-law Andy Leaf.
