Richard's Obituary

Richard Sadler, 74, of Berrien Springs, MI, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9123 George Ave., Berrien Springs, with Rev. Douglas Adams officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 6 at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs. Those wishing to share a memory of Richard online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Richard was born September 8, 1939 in Benton, MO to Edwin & Armella (Wiedefeld) Sadler. He graduated from Watervliet High School in 1958. Richard served his country in the United States Army from 1958 until 1961. In September of 1998 he married Jacalyn Leach in Berrien Springs. Richard was a firefighter at the St. Joseph Fire Department for 25 years and retired in 1989. He also worked full time and part time for Chemical Bank, retiring in 2006. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and was a loving husband, father and grandpa. Richard is survived by his wife Jacalyn Sadler; son Richard Sadler Jr.; daughter Lori Wilson; two stepchildren Martha Diericks and Christopher Heckathorne; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren;  one great grandchild; brother William (Dolores) Sadler; sisters Pat (Dan) Kennedy and Sharon Russell. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
