Darrell Day, Jr., 72, of Watervliet, MI passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Coloma United Methodist Church, 144 S. Church St., Coloma, with Pastor Ron Van Lente officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Those wishing to share a memory of Darrell online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Darrell was born July 6, 1942 in St. Joseph, MI, to Darrell & Ellen (Hysell) Day, Sr. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1960 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University. On June 13, 1964 he married Linda Goff in Benton Harbor, MI.  Darrell was a paper salesman for Watervliet Paper Co. in Watervliet, Newton Falls Paper Co. in New York, and Appleton Paper Co. in Appleton, Wisconsin. At the time of his death he was president of the Watervliet School Board, past president of Berrien County American Red Cross, and finance chairman of InterCare Community Health Network. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was a very kind, generous and devoted husband, father and friend. He was always a positive person who had good intentions toward his fellow man. He has left his mark and will be greatly missed. Darrell is survived by his wife of 50 years Linda Day of Watervliet; son Todd Day of Hartford; daughter Lori Hannan (partner, Resa Mason) of Spokane, WA; grandchildren Katie Hannan and Brianna and Brittany Day; daughter-in-law Sabrina Bledsoe of Kalamazoo; sister Patricia (Allen) Hill of Hartford; nephews Michael Hill, and Mark (Amy) Hill and their son Brian; and niece Michelle (Terry) Layman.
