Robert's Obituary

Robert J. Lausman Jr., 91 of St. Joseph, MI passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at Cartel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave.,Stevensville with Pastor Martin Measel and Rev. DR. Philip Quardokus officiating. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to sign Robert’s guest book may do so online @ www.starks-menchinger.com. Robert was born on March 11, 1923 in St Joseph, Michigan to Robert & Edna (Miller) Lausman. He attended Western Michigan University and then proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Searchlight Battalion along Long Island. After returning from the service Robert returned to school and graduated from Valparaiso University in 1949 with a Bachelors degree. On November 28, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs he married Donna Vorrath. After graduating Robert went into fruit farming with his brother Leroy. Robert loved working in the grapes and it truly was his passion. He also cherished the time spent traveling with his wife. Robert was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years Donna; son Gregg (Brenda) Lausman of Comstock Park, MI; sister Marian Krieger of Manassas, VA; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Edna (Miller) Lausman, and his brother Leroy Lausman.
