Robert D “Bob” Clark, 93, of St. Joseph, formerly of Stevensville, passed away, Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 8, 2014 at Lakeshore Christian Church, 5665 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, with Pastor Walter McCutcheon, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Robert was born October 16, 1920 in Marion, Ohio to Otto & Iona (Close) Clark. On December 6, 1941 he married the former Ruby M. Sharrock in LaPorte, Indiana. He was employed at Whirlpool Corporation in Marion, Ohio from 1955 to 1960 when he transferred to St. Joseph Laundry Group, retiring in 1982 as Senior Model Maker. Robert was a founding & active member of Lakeshore Christian Church. In his retirement, he and Ruby traveled the United States extensively & enjoyed winters in Avon Park, Florida. Robert was an avid golfer & bowler, a master story teller, and enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially his grand & great-grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife Ruby; two daughters-Lois (Garry) Quay of St. Joseph, Gloria (Edwin) Smith of St. Joseph; four grandchildren-Kimberly (Randy) Benedict of Fort Worth, TX, Debra (Ken) Freundt of Chesterton, IN, Dr. Robert (Heidi) Smith, PhD. Of Clarkston, MI, Jeffrey (Carrie) Smith of Fishers, IN; nine great-grandchildren-Ashley, Andrew, Alex, Aaron, Anna, Emily, Skylar, Josiah, & Kelita. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers & three sisters.
