Susan Vandermolen

Susan Vandermolen, 72, of Stevensville, MI passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Rd., Stevensville with Pastor Gordon Barry officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Stevensville United Methodist Church or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory of Susan online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Susan was born June 24, 1942 in Buffalo, NY, to Raymond Gustav & Betty (Reinhold) Hoemke. She graduated from Amherst Central High School in 1960 and from Michigan State in 1964 with a Bachelor’s of Science. Susan married Robert Vandermolen on August 22, 1964 in St. Joseph. She worked at Leslie High School in Leslie, MI, North Side High School in Fort Wayne, IN, Fort Leboeuf High School in Waterford, PA, and Amsterdam High School in Amsterdam, NY, before settling into her position of Reference Librarian at Lincoln Township Library for 17 years. Susan retired in 2002. She was a lover of pets who enjoyed gardening, traveling, and most of all mentoring many children at the library. Susan is survived by her husband Robert Vandermolen of Stevensville; sons, Mark (Dawn) Vandermolen of Irvine, CA and Jonathan (Lily) Vandermolen of North Wales, PA; and grandchildren, Harper, Carter, Macek and Clara. Susan was preceded in death by her parents.
