Kathleen “Kathy” Margaret Weed, 67, of St. Joseph, passed away, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 555 Delaware, Benton Harbor, officiated by Father William Jacobs, Jr. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Dowagiac. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Kathy was born December 13, 1946 in St. Joseph to Edgar Grant and Berniece Margaret (Connell) Weed.  She graduated from St. John Catholic High School in Benton Harbor in 1965. After working for Universal Looseleaf, Kathy worked as an administrative secretary for Lakeland Hospital for 35 years. She was also a Mary Kay consultant and she enjoyed attending many Mary Kay seminars in Dallas, TX. Kathy was very generous with her time and had a passion for helping her friends and family whenever she was needed. She also spent time volunteering for Care Friends and Lakeland Hospital. Kathy loved taking road trips across the US and Canada often traveling with friends or family. Kathy was known for her sense of humor and fun-loving personality. She could turn anything into fun and she especially loved to dance. Kathy often said, “My friends are like gold and I feel like the richest person in the world.” She will be dearly missed. Kathy is survived by nine siblings, Thomas (Lou) Weed, Frances (John) Chilton, Judith (Thomas) Englesby, Edward (Jan) Weed, Richard Weed, Dorothy (Richard) Oberheu, Margaret Weed, Stephen (Debra) Weed, Patricia Weed, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who dearly loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert Michael and Kevin Mark Weed, a special aunt Margaret Weed, brother-in-law Peter Bernhard Schreyer, and nephew Rudy Weed.
