Cindy E. Shelton

Cindy E. (Jones) Shelton, 63, of St. Joseph, Michigan passed away May 21, 2014 after a long battle with lupus.  Cremation has taken place with a private family service at Starks & Menchinger Chapel.  Those wishing to sign Cindy’s Memory book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Cindy was born December 18, 1950 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Frank and Earline (Davis) Jones.   She met and started dating her future husband, Mike Shelton, in junior high school.  After graduation from Claremore High School in 1969 she attended Claremore Beauty College receiving an advanced degree in cosmetology.  Mike and Cindy were married January 7, 1972 and soon moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas where she continued to work as a beautician until her children were born.  Following moves to Laporte, Indiana in 1984 and Smyrna, Tennessee in 1987 the family settled in St. Joseph, Michigan in 1988.  Cindy later held a series of part time jobs at Family Vision, Herald Palladium, and Starkes Insurance until health issues forced her to stay home in 1999.  She most enjoyed her sons’ sports, the grandchildrens’ activities, eating out and shopping with friends.  Cindy was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nana), and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  She is survived by her husband, Mike Shelton, sons Bob and Katie Shelton of Buchanan, Mike and Stephanie Shelton of Grand Rapids, grandchildren Claire and Carson in Buchanan, brothers Michael Lee Jones and James Ray Jones, half sisters Lisha Wallace, Valerie Hastings, and Gracie Stover, half brother Giles Jones all of Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.  Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Andrew Jones and Kenneth Roy Jones.  Memorials may be sent to Hospice at Home or The Berrien County Cancer Service.
