Dorothy Sharai

Dorothy Sharai, 98, of St. Joseph, passed away, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Hanson Hospice House, Stevensville.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 E Deleware, Benton Harbor, with Fr. William J. Jacobs officiating.  Private burial will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Benton Harbor.  Friends may visit with the family from  10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Church.  Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home.  Those wishing to sign Dorothy’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Dorothy was born March 26, 1916 in Benton Harbor to Louis & Vesta (West) Niccum.  She graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1932.  On August 18, 1934, she married Thomas W. Sharai.  Dorothy was employed by the American Red Cross in St. Joseph for many years, and a member of St. John-St. Bernard Parish.  Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law Sharon Sharai of Stevensville; three grandchildren & eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Louis Niccum, her husband Thomas W. Sharai in 1991, three grandchildren, and her son Thomas L. Sharai on February 24, 2014.
