Raymond Marske

Raymond Marske, 89, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.  A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:30 A.M., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3123 George St., Berrien Springs, with Pastor Douglas Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs and the Berrien County 4H Foundation. Those wishing to share a memory of Raymond online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  Raymond was born February 21, 1925 in St. Joseph, MI to Andrew & Laura (Zech) Marske. He graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1943 and on September 16, 1945 he married Doris Kettlehut in Stevensville. After working on the family farm and several other agricultural related jobs, Raymond worked for Farm Bureau Insurance as an agent for many years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs where he was an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent. He was also the Royalton Township Constable and served on the Township Planning Committee. He also enjoyed serving on the Board at the Berrien Springs Senior Center, rose and raspberry gardening, wood working and working on tractors.  Raymond is survived by his children-Kathleen Marske of St. Joseph, William (Sandi) Marske of Three Oaks, Melodie Marske of Ann Arbor; daughter-in-law Cindy Marske of St. Joseph; six grandchildren-Kimberley (Greg) Glaske, Melissa (Troy) Marske, Jackie (Rob) Satek, Jamy (Kristy) Marske, Jill (Kurt) Etherington, and Adam (Bettina) Zabel; eight great-grandchildren-Andrew, Lilly, Rebekah, Emily, Elijah, Emmeline, Landen and Ani; brother Alvin (Lorna) Marske; international student Jane Schafer; and by numerous nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, son David Marske, and his sister Helene Gast.
