Chester Mischke

Chester “Chet” Mischke passed away peacefully May 5, 2014 at Ann’s Choice Way in Warminster, PA. Chet was born Aug. 3, 1923 in Edwardsburg, one of five children born to Reinhold and Minnie (Melchert) Mischke.  He graduated from Baroda High School and Valparaiso Technical Institute.  He served his country in the Armed Forces and later was stationed in Japan.  Chet was involved with the Bridgman Lions Club and the St. Joe Kickers Club.  He was employed for many years at Heath Co. and then joined Darr & Associates Hearing Specialists of South Bend from which he retired. Chet married Eleanor Siewert in 1947, and she preceded him in death in 2000. Survivors include two daughters, Valerie (Jack) Novotny of Warminster, PA and their two sons, Joshua of AZ and Andrew of Chicago; Holly Robertson and her two daughters, Elise and Lauren of Grayslake, IL; two sisters, Alma Mischke of Albuquerque and Viola Chavez of Washington; several nieces and nephews; and a special brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Beverly Mak. Chet was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin and Irwin. Services, with Pastor Brad Ross officiating, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 10 at St. John’s Evangelical Church of Baroda of which he was a longtime member.  The church was built on his parent’s farm.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by North Berrien Military Rites Team.  A luncheon will follow at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Chet’s memory may be made to Pancreatic Research or Parkinson’s Action Network.
