Kenneth “Ken” C. Garrison, 64, of St. Joseph passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph with his loving family by his side.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 A.M., May 15, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Hospice at Home, or the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Ken was born April 17, 1950 in Torrence, CA to Bill & M. Jean (Taylor) Garrison. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1968, received his Bachelor’s in Journalism at Central Michigan University, and had worked on his Master’s. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was a member of West Michigan Viet Now. On January 10, 1976 he wed Iris Sotnyk in St. Joseph, MI.
Ken was an avid deer hunter, voracious reader, and enjoyed discussing current events. One of his favorite things was watching sports on TV, especially the Red Wings. He took pleasure in learning about history and sharing his knowledge. He was also a devoted cat lover, a fan of dogs, and enjoyed being around people. His dog Miles and cat Elliot are waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years Iris; daughter Corinne Garrison of St. Joseph; son Michael Garrison of Ypsilanti; mother M. Jean Taylor; brother William “Bill”
