Lorraine Hawkins

Lorraine Hawkins, 65, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at her home. A Celebration on Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph, with Larry O’Brien & Richard Cohn officiating. Lorraine was born December 3, 1948 in Benoni, South Africa to Otto & Rhona (Massenkamp) Rathke. She was a graduate of Benoni Commercial High School. On January 23, 1971 she wed Benjamin “John” Hawkins in Benoni. Lorraine kept a busy schedule as a homemaker caring for her children. She enjoyed spending time traveling with her husband John, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years John, daughter Nadine (Gareth) McGrath of Wilmington, N.C; son Trevor (Crystal) Hawkins of Oceanside, CA; grandchildren Devon & Rachel McGrath, Dawson, Noah & Ayden Hawkins; sister Marion (John) Liebenberg of Umkomaas, South Africa and several nieces and nephews.
