Gladys J. Jenkins

Gladys Jenkins, 71, of Benton Harbor, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, in St. Joseph, Michigan. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Sarett Nature Center, Benton Harbor, Michigan on Saturday, April 12th at 1:30 p.m.  Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00. In lieu of flowers monetary memorial gifts to help with final expenses may be made payable to Curtis Jenkins. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at: www.starks-menchinger.com.     Gladys was born May 11, 1942 in Benton Harbor, to Jess and Doris (Price) Henagan. She was a co-owner of Jenkins Custom Backhoe Service. Gladys lived a life of service to others, she opened her heart and home to many, and was a guiding force in the lives of everyone who knew her. She will continue to live on in our hearts forever.      She is survived by: her husband Curtis H. Jenkins of Benton Harbor; her four children– Brenda (Ron) Shaw of St. Joseph, Ronda (Carl) Payne of Benton Harbor, Tyman (Roxanne) Jenkins of Benton Harbor, and Curtis R. Jenkins of Benton Harbor; six grandchildren–Tim Bettig, Dustin Jenkins, Tyman Jenkins Jr., Dalton Jenkins, Dana Jenkins, and Rachel Jenkins; a sister– Jessica Watkins; and a brother– Terry Henagan.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandchild– Amber Bettig.
