Bill was born July 20, 1932 in Midland, MI to Dexter & Mary (Deisher) Seeburger. He graduated from Leelanau School in 1950, then he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Cold War. Bill graduated from the University of Michigan in 1956 with a Masters Degree in Business. In the summer of 1962, he met his future wife in Traverse City. On May 16, 1963 he married Elizabeth “Bette” Barnes in Grand Rapids. Bill enjoyed two careers that overlapped. For 20+ years, he worked at the family business, Seeburger Sales & Service, a marina on the Crystal River near Glen Arbor, MI. In the winter months, he began working as a tax professional. He soon became a Certified Public Accountant. Bill worked as an employee and as a partner, but the majority of his career was as a sole practitioner, working initially from his basement office at home, then moving to his downtown Stevensville office for 15 years. He was a past President and Treasurer for the Lakeshore Rotary and was a member of the Benton Harbor Elks Club, Parent Teacher Organization and a proud member of the FGH Group. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and was an avid University of Michigan Fan. He was a man of compassion and generous spirit. He was gentle and kind. Beneath a reserved exterior was a sharp wit, ready to be deployed at any time to make you laugh. Bill was a wonderful father and he adored his grandchildren. He shared over 35 wonderful years with Bette, whom he loved deeply and missed dearly.
William is survived by his sons William Seeburger II of St. Joseph and John (Heather) Seeburger of Portage, MI; grandchildren Matthew and Peyton Seeburger of Portage, MI; and brother Jim Seeburger of Maple City, MI. William was preceded in death by his parents and wife Elizabeth “Bette” Seeburger in 1998.
