John's Obituary

John Baker, 81, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Phil Bubar officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, April 7, 2014 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7:00 P.M. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Chapel, Hospice at Home, or American Alzheimer’s Foundation. Those wishing to share a memory of John online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com John was born September 5, 1932 in Hackleburg, AL to Fletcher & Beatrice (Gray) Baker. He worked for Rex Auto Parts for many years as a salesman. On September 29, 1950 he married Carol Watkins in Benton Harbor. John was a member of the Lakeshore Mason #298 for fifty-three years. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially Sunday dinners, birthdays and holidays. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. John was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. We will cherish our happy memories of him. John is survived by his wife, Carol Baker of St. Joseph; son, John Baker, Jr. of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Dr. Jason (Dr. Veronica) Torres Baker of AZ, Kristy Wolthuis of Watervliet, and Justin Jaggers of Kalamazoo; and great grandchildren, Avery, Viviana, Alexa, and Colton. John was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Kathy Jaggers.
