Elsie Skaggs

Elsie Skaggs, 102, of Tucson, AZ formerly of Benton Harbor passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Benton Harbor Church of Christ, 1495 East Empire Ave., Benton Harbor with Rusty Stark officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Benton Harbor Church of Christ. Those wishing to share a memory of Elsie online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Elsie was born January 5, 1912 in Quitman, Arkansas to William & Lilly (Harvey) Selvidge. On April 29, 1933 she married Clarence Skaggs in Arkansas. Elsie was a wonderful wife, mother and full time homemaker who kept a busy schedule caring for her family. Elsie was a long time member of the Benton Harbor Church of Christ and was very involved within the church. Elsie is survived by her children Clara Button of Tucson, AZ, Wayne (Dorothy) Skaggs of Stevensville, MI, Alma Wheeler of Benton Harbor, and Linda (David) Sayle of Tucson, AZ; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and brother William Selvidge; Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Robert & Harry Skaggs,  granddaughter Clara Ann Sharp, and siblings Cecil, Wesley, Vernon, Lloyd, Frances and Lorraine.
