Janet Johnston Hoyt

Janet Johnston Hoyt, 54, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Silverbrook Manor in Niles. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Friends may visit with the family beginning one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma.  Memorials may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Foundation.  Those wishing to sign Janet’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Janet was born August 16, 1959 in Benton Harbor to Harold & Faye (Wiley) Johnston.  She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1978.  Janet was employed for many years at K-Mart in Benton Harbor, and most recently at Hughes Plastics in St. Joseph, before her illness forced her retirement.  Janet enjoyed listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. Janet is survived by her daughter Rachel Hoyt of Benton Harbor; her step-daughter Stephanie Hoyt of Benton Harbor; her grandson Norman Rogers, Jr.; her brother Steven Johnston of San Antonio, TX; her sister Connie Boudreau and her mother Faye Johnston, both of Niles. She was preceded in death by her father Harold Johnston in May 1985.
