Dale's Obituary

Dale L. Jasper, Sr., 81, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market Streets, St. Joseph, with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Dale was born February 26, 1932 in St. Joseph to Herman & Alice (Geisler) Jasper. He served his country in the United States Army-Seventh Infantry from 1955-1957, stationed in Germany. On December 14, 1957, he married the former Joan Vincent in Baroda, Michigan. Dale owned and operated Dale Jasper Farms, which was founded by his father Herman, in Royalton Township. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served for twenty plus years as a trustee and on the planning commission for Royalton Township. Dale devoted his life to his family and to his work on the farm. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling out west, playing cards and snowmobiling. Dale is survived by his wife Joan; four sons-Dale Jr. (Karen) of St. Joseph, John (Kathy) of Berrien Springs, Jeff (Sara) of Bridgman, David (Heather) of Niles, MI; six grandchildren-Matthew (Christine) Michael, Kate, Jennifer, Alex & Julie; his brother Gerald of St. Joseph; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers-Robert, Donald & Lowell Jasper.
