Genevieve's Obituary

Genevieve Erickson, 103 went home to the Lord on January 1, 2014. Genevieve had resided at the Lakeland Continuing Care Nursing Home in St. Joseph, Michigan for the past eleven years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3590 Lincoln Avenue in St. Joseph with Rev. Dr. Cathi Braasch and Rev. Ronald Schmidt officiating. A Visitation will be held just prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon at Peace Lutheran Church. Those wishing to share a memorial may designate Peace Lutheran Church. Gen Erickson will be laid to rest at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Madelia, Minnesota with a gravesite service the latter part of May with the final date/time to be determined. Genevieve was born on October 25, 1910 in Madelia, Minnesota to and Oscar & Julia (Jensen) Sletten, both deceased. Genevieve was an only child. Genevieve had several jobs during her life time that spanned the Depression and World War II. During the first part of WW II. she worked in a Navy bomb and mine ammunitions depot making all types of munitions for our Naval fighting men. She later worked as the Deputy Register of Deeds for Blue Earth County in Mankato, Minnesota. Genevieve has lived in the Stevensville/St. Joseph area since 1980. Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband Archie, who passed away May 31, 2002. They were married on July 10, 1932 in Mankato Minnesota. Their life long partnership is celebrated by having been married almost 70 years. Surviving are two sons, Jerry (Janet) of Stevensville and Gene (Donna) of Prescott, Arizona. Genevieve has six grandchildren, Julie (Gerry) Suchanek of the Quad Cities, Illinois; Kim (Ken) Van Boening of Prescott, Arizona; Lisa (Mike) Reilly of Zeeland, Michigan; Greg (Christy) Erickson of Phoenix, Arizona; Jayne (Rick) Toering of Paeonian Springs, Virginia; and Jeff (Kari) Erickson of Phoenix, Arizona. Genevieve also has fourteen great grandchildren, Jerome Richard Harms; Catherine Suchanek; Katie & Keaton Van Boening; Kaitlin, Ellen, Curran & Nathaniel Reilly; Cade Jeffrey Erickson; Hanna & Jordan Toering; and Kyle, Tanner & Hunter Erickson.
