Edna Polfus

Edna Polfus, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away, Thursday, December 05, 2013 at Jordan’s Life Care Center in Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, With Rev. Robert Confer officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. On December 17, 1949 she married Leonard Polfus in Roseland, Indiana. Edna enjoyed the time spent taking care of her husband, children, and grandchildren. She worked at several jobs outside the home in her earlier years and operated a dog grooming business from her home for twenty plus years. Edna was a member of the First Church of God in St. Joseph. She enjoyed family time-especially with her grandchildren, going to garage sales, and sewing. She made clothes for her family and many stuffed animals. Edna was known for her sense of humor and always looking to play a joke on someone. Edna is survived by her children-Dave (Sharon) Polfus of St. Joseph, Don Polfus of Coloma, Sandy (LT) Harte of Sodus; five grandchildren-Megan Polfus, Jennifer Polfus, Stacy Emanuel, Kristen Harte & Greg Harte; one great-grandson Ethan Emanuel; a sister Alice Wambaugh of Coloma; and a brother Arthur “Bud” (Martha) Loewen of Davenport, IA. She was preceded in death by a brother Jack Loewen, a sister Ada Tiefenbach, and infant son Jimmy Polfus in 1951, and her husband Leonard on August 13, 2004.
