Carol A. Scott

Carol A. Scott passed away on January 7, 2014, peacefully at home, surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 11, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Paul Naumann officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Visitation is Friday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Dawn Closson. Friends wishing to leave the family a message of condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Carol was born February 22, 1946 to Noil and Reta (Hoggard) Osburn. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1964. After graduation she went to work at F & M Bank where she enjoyed a successful career before retiring in 1999. In 1970, Carol married Lanny Scott and they had two daughters, Dawn and Amanda. Through the years Carol worked at Chief’s Bar in Millburg. There she met and became close to many people. Later in life, Carol became a companion and dear friend to Jim Higbee. When younger, Carol was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling, cooking big family meals, and working in her gardens. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and spontaneous trips to the casino with her gal pals. Carol was a feisty and fun-spirited woman with a heart of gold, and she will be greatly missed. Carol is survived by her daughters Dawn (Scott) Closson and Amanda Scott; son-in-law Dennis Closson; grandchildren Vicki & Jordan; sister, Connie Osburn; and granddoggy, Ramona. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Jim and Larry Osburn.
