Eva's Obituary

Eva H. Carlson, 99, of St. Joseph, passed away, Friday, January 24, 2014 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market Streets, St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Eva was born March 26, 1914 in Bridgman, Michigan to Amiel & Martha (Backus) Dass. She was employed at Whirlpool Corporation before starting her family, and retired after twenty years from Maude Preston Palenske Library in St. Joseph. On September 15, 1945, she married Clyde H. Carlson in West Palm Beach, Florida. Eva was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Joseph, and was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother. Eva is survived by her four sons-Stephen (Luana) Carlson of DeWitt, MI, Thomas (Marge) Carlson of Ludington, MI, Douglas (Beverly) Carlson of Mount Vernon, IL, and Dennis Carlson of Wyoming, MI; six grandchildren-Stephanie (Phil) Kowatch, Andrea (Joseph) Meiser, Matthew (Lesley) Carlson, Scott (Kelte) Carlson, John Carlson and Bryan Mazur; six great grandchildren- Eva, Leo, Audrey, Hernik, Eli and Micah; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde H. Carlson on February 14, 2002, and by three brothers & two sisters.
