Mary Katsulos

Mary Katsulos, 85, of St. Joseph, MI peacefully passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 with her family by her side at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Mary was born in Chicago to Theodore and Zoe Fotos and moved to St. Joseph in 1959 when she married George Katsulos of Stevensville. She was a vibrant, social and well-loved part of the community. She often reminisced about her early years in Chicago, although she quickly adjusted to the quieter living in a small town and thrived in its environment. She was always smiling and brought joy in so many ways to those around her. In her younger years, she was an enthusiastic Cubs and Blackhawks fan and loved to share stories about her work at the LaSalle Hotel in Chicago where visiting sports teams often stayed. After moving to Michigan, she enjoyed league bowling at Lakeshore Lanes for many years. She loved music, gardening, flowers, smiles, people and especially her family. Mary was a loving and supportive mother and wife and a dedicated member of the Greek Orthodox Church. She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, George, a legacy of two children, Katherine McCormick, and her husband Tom, of Long Beach, IN and Elaine Zoe Katsulos of Boulder, CO, a sister, Christine, and her husband William Linroth of Longmont, CO, as well as a family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Her sister Angie preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church, 18000 Behner Rd., New Buffalo, MI with Fr. Paul Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with prayers recited at 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 25, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church, St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center or the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan.
