Marietta's Obituary

Marie passed away like a gentle breath and her eyes are closed in the sleep of death. The leaves of the trees will wither and fall and the drifting snow will cover all. Surrounded by her family who loved her very much, God’s Golden Gates of Heaven, where Dad and Stephanie’s arms opened up on Saturday, December 14, 2013 to welcome Mom to an eternity in Heaven. Marietta “Marie” C. Weaver, 88, of Stevensville and formerly Coloma, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 11:30 A.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Larry Easton officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Marie was born January 5, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois and was adopted and raised by George & Hattie Culver where she had a wonderful and loving life in St. Joseph. Marie met and married Carl Weaver on April 26, 1941 in St. Joseph, where they lived in and around most of their married life. Marie and Carl raised seven daughters and her greatest pleasure was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed family gatherings and playing all kinds of games with her grandchildren, especially Yahtzee and Po-ke-no. Marie was a long time member of Lakeshore Bible Church in Hagar Shores and a long time member of the former Lake Michigan Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving, caring and compassionate person whose family was very proud of her and she will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include daughters-Helen (Carl) Frederick of Vicksburg, MI, Mary (Randy) Cooper of Arlington, TX, Betty Campos of South Haven, Gloria (Toribio) Guerrero of San Antonio, TX, Debbie (Steven) Homan of Vicksburg, Connie Weaver of Stevensville; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-one Great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her daughter Stephanie Tulak, her parents George & Hattie Culver; two grandchildren-Joseph Rothrock & Gloria Garcia; three brothers-Phil, Joseph, and Leo Lucas; and three sisters-Grace Kacprzsak, Helen Desecki, and Loretta Lucas.
