Virginia Mabel Miller, surrounded by her children, passed quietly and comfortably after a long illness and was welcomed into eternity by her Heavenly Father on November 21, 2013. Virginia was born on February 16, 1931 to Lee and Vera Bateman in Olney, Illinois.
Virginia married James Miller on June 24, 1948. They celebrated 59 years of marriage and raised five children and were loving grandparents to seventeen grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Virginia placed her faith in Christ at the age of 25. She was a member of The Chapel Evangelical Free Church in South St Joseph for the past ten years.
Virginia was the owner/operator of Hair Master Hair Salon in south St. Joseph for thirteen years.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2007 and grandson, Dustin Boehm in 1994 and brother Robert in 1926.
Virginia is survived by her five children, Dave (Pat) Miller of Berthoud Colorado, Doug (Michele) Miller of St. Joseph, Michigan, Deborah (Gary) Wheaton of Berrien Springs, Michigan, Deedra (Dennis) Boehm of Stevensville, Michigan, and Darla (Freeman) Hewitt, of Ooltewah, Tennessee. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Harvey Bateman of Michigan City, Indiana and John (Julia) Bateman of Austin, Texas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Monday, November 25, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with pastor Marlo Fritzke officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit from 10:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home.
