June's Obituary

June (Banks) Hahn, age 83, went to live with the Lord on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Caretel Inns in St. Joseph, due to complications related to pancreatic cancer. On June 24, 1950, she married the love of her life, Richard, who survives, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. They were married for 63 years. Together they were blessed with three children: Karen (Jan) Platts of Eaton Rapids; Richelle (Dennis) Ciboch of St. Joseph; and Dennis (Bobbi) Hahn of Jenison, along with eight grandchildren: Kelley (Tom) Delozier of Charlotte, NC; Scott (Beth) Klug of Eau Claire; Shaun (Stephanie) Klug of Benton Harbor; Joshua Ciboch of Holland; Justin Ciboch of Big Rapids; Zoe Platts (deceased); Marisa and Rachel Hahn of Jenison; and four great-grandchildren (plus one due in January 2014 and one due in May 2014). June graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1949. June was a long-time member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. Throughout the years she worked at Sears, Roebuck & Co. and Klug Farm Equipment. She also volunteered at Mercy Hospital, Lighthouse Attic and the Pregnancy Care Center, besides nurturing her family and caring for her home. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and recitals, fishing, traveling, playing cards, sitting on the bluff people watching, going to the Sunday evening concerts at the band shell and spending time with her family. June will be remembered as a loving wife, a great mother, and a faithful friend. Her Heavenly Father richly blessed her during her years on this earth. She was born in Buchanan, MI, on August 2, 1930, to the late Minnie (Thurston) and Charles L. Banks. Siblings include Charles W. (Bill) Banks (deceased); Robert (Bob) Banks of Moncks Corner, SC; Laurence (Bub) Banks of Stevensville; and Peggy (Frank) Alsup of St. Joseph. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Hazel Banks of Webb City, MO, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 25, 2013 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, 1965 Broadway, Benton Harbor with the Rev. Paul Naumann officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home.
