Loren C. Swisher, 87, of Eau Claire passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Wade Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit Monday, October 21, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Loren was born October 25, 1925 in Riverside, MI to Glenn & Lydia (Berndt) Swisher. He was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School in 1944. On April 6, 1944 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served 2 years as an Aviation Machinist in World War II before being honorably discharged on May 6, 1946. He married Donna Pullins in Benton Harbor on September 7, 1946. Loren was a supervisor at Clark Equipment for 30 years retiring in 1977. He enjoyed working on his farm and was able to do so more once he retired. Loren was a member of the VFW Post 1137. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Loren is survived by his wife of 67 years Donna Swisher, sons Loren (Janet) Swisher of Millburg, Steve Swisher of Eau Claire, and Mark Swisher of New Milford, CT; daughter Sue (Brady) Champion of Coloma, nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Glenn Swisher in 2013.
