Clara Jean Reed

Clara Jean (Andrews) Reed, 87, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at Jordan’s Life Care Center in Bridgman. A Private Service will be held at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Dr. Robert Braman officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Berrien County Cancer Service or Michigan Heart Association. Those wishing to share a memory of Clara online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Clara was born January 14, 1926 in Benton Harbor, MI to Warren & Loueda (Emhoff) Andrews. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1944. Clara worked at the Paris Flea Market in Stevensville from 1969 until 1974, and the Herald Palladium in St. Joseph for five years. She was also a full time homemaker who kept a busy schedule caring for her family. Clara was a member of the First Congregational Church in St. Joseph, enjoyed working the church rummages, and attending the Mary Martha group. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, baking, and flower gardening. Clara is survived by her two daughters Nancy (Michael) Shepherd of Stevensville and Jackie Shuey of Watervliet; four grandchildren Scott Shepherd, Shawn (Leroy) Jackson, Jason Hoge, and Jenna Shuey; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews & cousins. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Dorthea Wolske, Margaret Larsen, Beverly McDonald, and one brother Warren Andrews Jr.
