Madelin's Obituary
Madelin McTague, 88, formerly of Stevensville, passed away on October 21, 2013 at Heartland Nursing Home in San Antonio, TX. Private family services were held, with burial taking place at Lincoln Township Cemetery next to her beloved husband.
Arrangements have been entrusted with Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home of St. Joseph, MI. Friends wishing to leave a message of condolence for the family may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Madelin was a strong Christian. She lived her life by the inspirational words: “Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.” She looked forward to joining those who went on before her – her husband, family members, and also her best friend, her dog, Torky. Madelin was born in Michigan, raised her family and worked in the Berrien County Court in child support collections. Her work there was highly respected both by the judges and the families. She was sought out state wide for her wisdom and advice. Upon retirement, Madelin made the decision to move to San Antonio to live closer to her son, Walter and his family. It was at Heartland that she was sought out as a volunteer for the National Delta Society Therapy Animals of San Antonio. She became certified as a Pet Therapist Volunteer. Madelin was appreciated, respected and admired by all the lives she touched through her pet therapy. The staff and residents cherished Madelin at Heartland for her loving, kind personality. She was honored to be a guest speaker at the University of Texas Health Science Center, lecturing on Animal Therapy. She had a direct impact on several students career decisions to go into the field of Animal Therapy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Dara Sinnett, Walter McTague and his devoted and supportive wife Eleanor, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made in Madelin’s name to the Delta Society, 875 124th Ave., NE #101, Bellevue, WA 98005 (Phone: 425-679-5500, or www.deltasociety.org).
