Kurt's Obituary
Kurt Remus Jr. age 82 passed away October 20, 2013 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in Royalton Township. Kurt was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin August 26, 1931 He was the son of Kurt Remus Sr. and Frances Remus. He attended University School in Milwaukee. Kurt was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He took over Remus Catering in Milwaukee WI and earned a reputation of excellence for events ranging from small gatherings and weddings to large complex events involving thousands of participants.
Kurt had the gift of hospitality. He loved his family, he loved God’s creation the flora and the fauna, hunting and fishing especially fly fishing. Kurt was both a master fly fisherman and fly tier. Kurt was a long time Rotarian and a Paul Harris fellow. He served on the Boards of the Milwaukee County Zoo, Tympanuchus, and the Schlitz Audubon Center. He was a recipient of the Silver Acorn Award from the Citizens National Resource’s Association for his conservation efforts for Horicon Marsh.
Kurt was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Poulos and son Kurt Remus,
Kurt is survived his wife of over 60 years Constance Ann Remus, daughter Heidi (Mike) Ahern of Stevensville MI, Carolyn (Bill) Bahr of Marietta GA, grandchildren: Jason (Marlie) Antonic, Mark (Cali) Ahern, Katy (Matt) Casburn, Curtis Poulos and Nick Poulos, great grandchildren-Jackson, Jordan, Joshua & Jason Antonic.
Kurt will be missed by his family, friends and many other people whose lives he touched.
Services will take place 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 25 at The Chapel—An Evangelical Free Church, 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph Michigan with Rev. Phil Bubar officiating. A brief visitation will take place prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice at Home or Alzheimer’s Association.
