Mary Ellen Price

Mary Ellen Price, 81, of Coloma, MI died at Watervliet Hospital on Thurs., August 15, 2013. Arrangements have been entrusted with Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MI. Mary Ellen was born February 24, 1932 in Benton Harbor, MI to James and Emma (Schuster) Schafhauser. She was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School in 1948. On December 23, 1976 she married James E. Price. She was an avid bridge player. Mary Ellen worked at the Comstock MI Fruit Canners for over 20 years retiring in 1992 as customer service manager. Mary Ellen was full of life, the entertainer, Queen of cards, beautiful inside and out, and loved her family and friends. She was flashy and sassy everyday of her life. Mary Ellen is survived by her husband James E. Price of Coloma, MI; her children-Claudia (Michael) Hanley of St. Joseph, MI, Jill McRee of Northville, MI, Janet (Thomas) Collard of Westland, MI, Guy (Dyanna) Price of Dowagiac, MI and Mark (Diane) Price of Sawyer, MI; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister-Betty Gerlach of Benton Harbor, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents-James and Emma Schafhauser, two sons-Danny McRee and Jimmy Price, and a sister-Mildred Oberle. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Mon., August 19, 11:30 AM, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Visitation is on Sunday, August 18, from 2:00-5:00PM at the funeral home. Mary Ellen’s final resting place will be at Coloma Cemetery in Coloma, MI at a later date.
