Terry Mansfield

Terry Mansfield, 66, of Benton Harbor, formerly of Easton, Penn, passed away, Friday, September 6, 2013 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. Celebration of Life Services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, September 9, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Marlo Fritzke officiating. Burial with full military honors will be conducted at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan, Tuesday, September 10, at 10:30 A.M. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Monday, preceding the service. Memorials in Terry’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Those wishing to sign Terry’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger. Terry was born May 6, 1947 in Flint, Michigan to L.D. & Alberta (Akers) Mansfield. He graduated from Ainsworth High School in Flint-class of 1965. He joined the United States Marine Corp., serving his country during the Vietnam War. On February 11, 1967, he married the former Sheila Cole in Fenton, Michigan. Terry was employed for eighteen years with Consumers Power, spending the last of those years at Palisades Nuclear Plant in Covert. The last sixteen years were spent with Fluor Corporation of South Carolina, working in Indiana and as sight manager in New Jersey. Terry was an avid golfer & bowler, and a life member of the American Legion in Mount Vernon, Indiana and the VFW in South Haven, Michigan. In his free time, he enjoyed & taught woodcarving and was a member of the Lehigh Chippers Wood Carvers Club, the Lancaster Wood Carvers and also Penna.Delaware Valley Club. Terry is survived by his wife Sheila; his children-Tony (Vickie) Mansfield of Hemlock, Michigan, Melissa (George) Bond of Benton Harbor, Joshua Mansfield of Mount Vernon, Indiana; eight grandchildren-Kassandra, Marcus, Jonathon, Morgan, Madison, Mariah, & Joshua Mansfield, Jaime Parker; and one great-granddaughter Hannah Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents.
