Lynn's Obituary

Lynn P. Kovarik, 69, of St. Joseph was called home to the Lord on Monday August 12, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held on Friday August 16, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 10 am on August 17, 2013 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 2673 W. John Beers Rd. in Stevensville, with Pastor Kruschel officiating. Lynn was born October 27th in southeastern Michigan and attended Bishop Baraga High School in Marquette, Michigan. Lynn attended college at Michigan State University and Northern Michigan University for Physics and Mathematics. He married the love of his life Sandra Kay in September 1977 after meeting her at a “flashlight skate” as both enjoyed roller dancing. In his early career, Lynn went into radio, broadcasting the news and serving as news director in markets in Detroit and Omaha until 1981. Having built his first computer from scratch at an early age, he began to work with Zenith and transferred to American Electric Power working at the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgeman, Michigan until retirement in 2010 as the Principal IT System Administrator. As call sign N8XSD, Lynn was involved with HAM radio and delighted in communicating with other HAMs from all over the globe. He loved exploring, from becoming a pilot with the Civil Air Patrol to summiting peaks and traveling the world. He used his talents in speaking, teaching, writing, and photography to serve Christ through his time witnessing with the Gideons and his participation in many facets of church life. Lynn is survived by his wife Sandy, his son Jonathan, and his daughter Johanna; his grandsons Rob and Evan; sisters Patty, Kathy, Lorraine, and Annie; and brothers Jim and Chris; and by countless close friends and family in Christ. His greatest joy was sharing the love of Jesus with those around him through his words and actions, and he is finally at peace at home with the Savior.
