DeAnna K. Young-Brooks

Our precious DeAnna K. Young-Brooks (‘Stella’) 44, of Benton Harbor has been taken away too soon as a result of a car accident in Covert on August 23, 2013. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. Friends may visit Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the educational fund for her children Montana & Riley Brooks at United Federal Credit Union. Those wishing to share a memory of DeAnna may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. DeAnna was born March 12, 1969 in St. Joseph, MI to Daniel Young and Kathryn Ashbrook Young. She graduated from Coloma High School in 1989. DeAnna founded and owned The Saucy Tomato for 5 years and most recently was the assistant manager at Domino’s pizza in St. Joseph. She loved camping with her friends, singing karaoke, dancing and bird watching. DeAnna was a 5 year breast cancer survivor and would brighten your day like the sun. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her children. She has left a legacy of laughter and joy in her wide variety of interests, her artistic expression and creativity and her joy for life; all of which she has carefully nurtured in her children. She is survived by her daughters Montana M. Brooks and Riley A. Brooks; mother Kathryn ‘Kathie’ Ashbrook-Young, Benton Harbor; father Daniel (Cindie) Young, Watervilet; fiancé Eric Evett of Coloma; stepchildren Zach Short, Cody Short, Marlaina Evett, Kaitlyn Evett, Sarah Collier and Leah Briney; brother Shawn(Jenene, Keegan & Kaydee) Young; sisters Shannon Young and Stephanie Young and step-sister Lisa Huff; the father of her children Steven Brooks; close friends Victoria Huff and Amy Cox; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Teresa & Carl Ashbrook; Donna & Raymond Young; and step-daughter Amanda M. Brooks.
