Magdalene's Obituary

Magdalene Mary Dumke, 93, of St. Joseph passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Whitcomb Towers. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on the same day from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph Public School Foundation. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Magdalene was born in Brazil, South America on February 14, 1920 to Conrad J. S. & Elizabeth (Krentz) Wachholz, while her parents served as missionary’s for the Lutheran Church. Magdalene Wachholz married Michael Dumke on January 6, 1946, in Milford Center, Ohio. Maggie and Mike met in Australia while they were both serving in the military during World War II. Magdalene graduated from Ohio State with a B.S. in Fine Arts and Education. Magdalene is survived by her nephew, Michael E. (Donna) Dumke of St. Joseph and three nieces, Julie Weaver of Baton Rouge, LA; Suzanne (Craig) Barrows of Natchez, MS and Anne (David) MacDonald of St. Joseph; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother and sisters. Magdalene was preceded in death by her husband, Michael in 2009; and her son, Philip Ray Dumke in 2003.
