William “Bill” Laukus, 90, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Bremen Hospital in Bremen IN.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday August 16, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of S.W. Bill was born December 21, 1922 in St. Joseph, MI to Gustav & Anna (Schlutt) Laukus. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1940 and then attended the University of Wisconsin. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1942 until 1945 and received the bronze star. On March 20, 1948 he married Joyce Surch in St. Joseph. Bill worked for the Berrien County Road Commission and Wightman and Associates for many years. He was a member of the American Cribbage Congress Grass Roots Club 107. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing & umpiring fast pitch softball and was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan.
Bill is survived by his two sons Kyle Laukus of Benton Harbor and Mark (Jennifer) Laukus of St. Joseph; two grandchildren Kristopher and Emily. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Joyce in 2006.
