Maria B. Depuydt

Maria Beatrice Depuydt, 82, of Eau Claire, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. with Father William Jacobs Jr. officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. On April 11, 1953, Maria married Jan Depuydt in Delaware, Ontario. In 1974, Maria and Jan moved to the United States. She was involved with funeral luncheons at St. Bernard’s. She enjoyed working in the garden and was also an avid reader. Her greatest enjoyment of all was spending time with her 9 grandchildren. Maria is survived by her daughter Lona (Phillip) Demoro of Paris, France; son Jan Jeffrey (Cathy) Depuydt of Reading, Pennsylvania; daughter Amy (Michael) Roti of Eau Claire, Michigan; daughter Betsy Depuydt of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and two sisters Eleanor (Andrew) Chibi and Laverne Aver. Maria was preceded in death by her husband Jan in December of 2009.
